There is a misconception in the industry that the phone lcd screen is obsolete technology. As someone who has been manufacturing displays since STMAX started in 2016, I can tell you that is false. LCD technology has evolved incredibly. Modern Incell and COF (Chip on Flex) LCDs are thinner, brighter, and more power-efficient than ever before.
At STMAX, we treat the phone lcd screen as a premium product. It starts with the liquid crystal fluid itself. We source high-response-time fluids that eliminate "ghosting" when scrolling text. Many cheap factories use sluggish fluids that leave trails behind moving images. We simply don't do that.
Then there is the color gamut. A standard generic LCD covers maybe 60% of the sRGB spectrum. Colors look washed out. We target 95%+ sRGB coverage for our premium phone lcd screen line. We achieve this by using enhanced phosphor LED backlights that produce a purer white light. When you put an STMAX LCD next to an original, it’s often hard to tell the difference.
We also focus on structural durability. The backlight unit in a phone lcd screen adds thickness. If not managed correctly, this creates pressure spots. We use ultra-thin optical sheets (ESR films) to keep the module slim without sacrificing brightness. We also reinforce the chin area (where the flex cable connects) because that is the most common point of failure during drops.
Finally, we address power consumption. A bright screen is great, but not if it kills the battery in 3 hours. We optimize the transmittance of the pixel grid so we can run the LEDs at a lower current while maintaining high brightness.
